Mulled Wine

This warm spiced wine is perfect for a winter's night or the holidays. It's super easy to make too!

Servings 4 cups


  • 1 liter bottle Red Wine of your choice. Choose something fruity verses dry.
  • 1/4 cup Brandy or other hard spirit. (See list above)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 8-10 whole cloves
  • 8-10 whole peppercorns
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger or 2 tsp of ground ginger
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 bay leaf


  • Pour wine and brandy into a stock pot. Heat for 6-7 minutes.
  • Add the honey to the stock pot. Stir until it dissolves. Heat for about 2-3 minutes. 
  • Combine cloves, peppercorns, ginger, and star anise in a cheese cloth or tea ball. Add to the stock pot. 
  • Bring the mixture to a boil. Turn down the heat. Add in the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and bay leaf. 
  • Let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes. 
  • Serve in a small coffee or tea mugs.
