Portland, Oregon is a pretty awesome city located in the Pacific Northwestern part of the United States. The city has an extremely liberal mind towards most things and is very much in tune with nature. I was amazed by just how much the city incorporates nature into its set-up.
For instance, it has one of the largest public parks in the US at over 400 acres and multiple other parks and gardens. It also is home to the world’s smallest park. It’s literally just a flower pot. The city has mountains to its east so it offers tons of outdoor activities and Mt. Saint Helens is nearby as well. To the west, you’ll find the Oregon coast which is an incredibly beautiful coast line.
The city itself is home to a plethora of fun and weird bars and restaurants. There is nice nightlife and people are generally friendly. I, honestly, think the best think this area offers in adventures in nature.
You can drive north to Washington and explore Olympic National Park, visit Seattle, and check out Mt. Rainier. Portland is also fairly close to Mt. Hood which is yet another volcano. We visited Mt. Hood in the middle of summer and were able to play in the snow at the top.
In any case, I’m sure you will find your own fun adventures. Just use this guide as a general launching point.
