Traveling is great! There is nothing I love more than to head out into the wide-world and embark on a new adventure all while creating new memories. But in order to do this, one thing is required…packing. So a little further below we’ll discuss 5 things you should not forget when you pack.
No matter what, you will need to pack some things. Some people take very little and others take enough clothes to dress a small country. Personally, I prefer to err on the side of caution and overpack just a little. We are about to head to Mexico and so it is time to pack. Neither one of us really wants to pack yet and so we are procrastinating on completing the task at hand. Instead, I am putting together a list of thing we need to make sure to take with us. Trust me, it is important, one time we left and didn’t take any of our clothes with us…it happens.
We all know we shouldn’t forget our clothing but here is a list of things to always remember but are often left behind. Avoid the trouble and never forget these things!
1) “Tickets, Money, Passport.”
There is a funny scene in the hit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous where the daughter asks her mother if she has everything. The mother sighs “Yes, Yes” and than walks out. Suddenly, she runs back into the house shouting “Tickets, Money, Passport.” It’s a funny scence but these are items easily forgotten. If you are traveling internationally, you won’t travel far without your passport. These days you can print your tickets at the airport but you definitely don’t want to forget your wallet.
Oh…and you can watch the clip from AbFab above.
2) Hygiene Stuff
If you are traveling on a budget, you might stay in a less than luxurious accomodations such as a budget hotel or a hostel or even an Airbnb. In all of these situations you are not guaranteed any of the items that help you feel clean. So be sure to pack them and if you plan to carry them onto the plane they must fit into a quart size ziplock bag. Life is a lot better when you have items like toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, mouthwash, floss etc.
3) Vitamin C, Anti-cold meds, and Stomach Relief
Let’s face it…when you travel to another country, you never know what might happen. Be prepared. Take Vitamin C to fortify your immune system. Don’t forget cold medicines and even anti-diarrhea and nausea tablets. Trust me, it’s better to have them on you then to not. While we were in France, my husband had food poisoning of some sort. It was terrible and he did not enjoy his time. Sometimes it’s not easy to find the right pharmacy to purchase medicine from when you are in a foreign country.
4) Extra Underwear
This is just one of my rules. Always pack extra underwear. You never know when you might need them. Better safe than sorry, as I like to say.
5) Your Phone
When you travel, you might want to stay off your phone as much as possible because it can cost a fortune and there is so much to take in. BUT it can be a lifesaver sometimes in an emergency. So don’t forget to take it with you.
Above all make sure to take a sense of adventure and a willingness to roll with the punches.
